About me

Hello world!

My name, in case you hadn’t already seen it, is Toby Kerr. I am an ex A-Level student who has just completed Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics courses. Now that these have been completed (finally!), I am now looking forward to starting the latest chapter of my life: airline pilot training. Which brings me to introducing you to the bigger reason as to why I have decided to  start this blog.

Ever since, I first stepped on an aircraft, caught a glimpse of the flight deck, and experienced flight for the very first time, I have been somewhat infatuated with the whole experience that the aviation world has to offer. As time went on from that first experience, six year-old me soon realised that my vocation was to become an airline pilot. Since then, I have fuelled my ambition by spending many hours on flight simulators and spending even more hours watching endless videos on YouTube!

Taking to the controls like a pro (although probably highly unlikely!)

As time has crawled forward at a snail’s pace, I am now ready to begin what could be the most exciting time of my life! I will elaborate in another post another time, but the purpose of this blog is to hopefully inspire young aspiring airline pilots to follow their dreams whilst hopefully providing information that will be useful to anyone considering a career in this industry.

This is all for now but I will end by writing one of my favourite quotes:

For once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return.

– Leonard da Vinci (1452 – 1519)

  1. Hey Toby,

Thanks for sharing your experiences, it’s been great reading about the hurdles you have faced in pursuit of your dream. I’m glad you made it, not a lot of people get a career they dream but hard work and perseverance clearly pays off. I’m sort off turning 23, not too sure what I want to do with my life.. I’ve always wanted to become a pilot but felt held back by my academic abilities. I will perhaps try to pursue this as a career after I finish my university studies, which is business related, maybe taking a levels in chemistry and physics would be a good start. I could always fly as a hobby, something to do over the weekend or during the summer. This blog has been inspirational, has given a lot of prep as to what I need to do. I will create my own blog soon

    All the best

    • Thank you for your kind words, Ehsan. They’re very much appreciated and it is nice to know that people are still reading this blog after all this time!
I wish you the best of luck with your endeavours and the best advice I can give you is that if you want something from life badly enough, you can make it happen one way or another!
      Toby 🙂
